The Institute of Biology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences was established in 1965.
    More than 80 scientific researchers are working in the Divisions of General Biology, Microbiology,  and Center of  Biotechnology. Among our reasearch workers 38% have different scientific degrees, 1 Honored Scientist, 3 members of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, 4 Doctors of  Science and 22 Ph.D degree  holders.    
    Our scientists published the results of their investigations in more than 60 monographs, books, broshures and more than 2000 scientific articles in respectable scientific magazines and journals of different countries.

Research area 
  • investigate species composition and structure, distribution and resources, utilization and rational use, conservation of rare and endangered wildlife species, genetic background of re-introduction and rehabilitation of the Mongolian fauna
  • use of microbal synthesis products in medicine and food and agricultural  industry,
  • practical use of molecular biology achievements,
  • research on paleoanthropology and ethno-physical antropology.
Future research area:
•    conservation, sustainable use and piculiarity of biology and eclogy of  the Rare and important game animals of Mongolia and genetic background of re-introduction
•    extensive application of biotehnological achievements in griculture and medicine
•    Intensification of use of microbial synthesis in sood industry and agriculture
•    The study of morphological, characteristics ancient and modern Mongolian populations in relation with the historical periods, migration and aging process of Mongolian 

International cooperation:
The institute has  close cooperation with scientific institutions of USA, UK, Germany, Russian Federation, Hungary, Japan,  China and others. Beside research works our scientist are actively teaching in different universitites and institutes of Mongolia.
